PRINCIPLES
The Moderate Party of America follows principles rather than a left-right script. Our foundation is constitutional liberty, equal justice under law, individual ownership, personal responsibility, evidence-based government, transparency and accountability, competitive capitalism, fiscal responsibility, strong national defense, equal opportunity, human dignity, freedom of speech and conscience, and limited but effective government. We choose ideas on their constitutional merit, evidence, fairness, cost, and practical results.
Constitution
The Constitution is the authority under which government exists, not an obstacle government must work around.
MPA supports freedom of speech, religion, assembly, association and conscience; due process and equal protection; privacy and property rights; lawful self-defense; and protection against unreasonable searches and seizures.
Government bears the burden of showing why restricting the liberty of a peaceful individual is necessary and constitutional.
Equal Justice Under Law
No person or institution should be above the law; not a citizen, corporation, billionaire, politician, prosecutor, police officer, president, or government agency.
Same crime. Same law. Same justice.
Access to justice should not depend entirely on wealth. Power increases responsibility; it does not erase due process.
Ownership and Personal Responsibility
MPA supports an ownership society in which people can build assets, homes, businesses, savings, retirement security, and independence.
Ownership strengthens responsibility. Personal responsibility and a meaningful safety net can coexist when policy rewards work, independence, stewardship, and honest participation.
Evidence Before Politics
Public policy should distinguish facts, values, risks, tradeoffs, and uncertainty.
Science should follow evidence regardless of whether the conclusion is politically convenient. Major policies should define the problem, disclose the evidence, measure results, and change course when they fail.
Transparent and Accountable Government
Government works for the American people. Government authority is borrowed from the people and carries duties of truth, transparency, competence, stewardship, and accountability. Disclosure should be the default, with narrow protections for legitimate interests such as national security, victims, minors, and active investigations.
Americans should be able to trust their government again. That trust cannot be demanded, manufactured, or treated as automatic. Government must earn it through honesty, competence, constitutional conduct, equal enforcement of law, responsible stewardship, measurable results, and meaningful consequences when officials abuse authority or fail the public.
We want to restore public confidence in the institutions Americans depend upon every day, including our system of law and justice, courts and judges, public-health agencies, regulatory agencies, elections, law enforcement, Congress, the executive branch, and our political system itself.
Institutions must acknowledge mistakes, correct failures, disclose conflicts of interest, resist political manipulation, and hold their own members accountable when they violate the public trust. Americans should be able to trust that the law means what it says, evidence will not be manipulated, science will not be politicized, justice will not depend on who they are or what party they support, and officials will tell the truth even when it is inconvenient.
We should support the honorable people serving within these institutions while confronting corruption, incompetence, misconduct, political bias, and abuse of authority wherever they occur.
We also want to restore confidence in police officers, firefighters, emergency medical professionals, dispatchers, rescue personnel, and other emergency responders. Trust grows when responders are well trained, properly equipped, respectful, courageous, accountable, and focused on service. Communities should support honorable responders while confronting misconduct openly and fairly.
Public trust is not owed to government. It is earned by government.
Competitive Capitalism and Equal Opportunity
MPA supports capitalism, not corporatism.
Competitive markets, small businesses, worker freedom, consumer choice, and honest enforcement are essential to prosperity.
Markets should remain free and competitive, while government enforces clear rules against fraud, coercion, monopoly abuse, corruption, and criminal misconduct.
Every American deserves equal dignity, equal treatment, and a fair opportunity to build a secure and fulfilling life.
Free markets, fair rules, and real accountability.
Limited but Effective Government
Government should act when action is constitutional, necessary, supported by evidence, and likely to work. It should use the least restrictive effective solution, respect federalism, disclose costs, and measure outcomes.
Rules and programs that repeatedly fail should be changed or repealed.
Liberty, Conscience, and Equal Dignity
The Moderate Party of America rejects racism, sexism, prejudice based on sexual orientation or immutable characteristics, and ideologies that regard any group as inherently superior or inferior. Every person possesses inherent dignity and deserves equal protection under law. People should be judged as individuals by their character, conduct, choices, and beliefs, while ideas remain open to question and debate.
Respect for another person's rights does not require abandoning personal religious or moral conviction. Americans will disagree about religion, morality, culture, lifestyles, and personal behavior. Believing that conduct is morally wrong does not justify hatred, mistreatment, or unlawful discrimination.
Personal conviction and public policy are not identical. Faith and moral principles may shape character and judgment, but not every religious or spiritual belief should become law. MPA policy must withstand examination under the Constitution, individual liberty, equal protection, evidence, reason, practical consequences, and the rights of others.
Government should neither impose religion nor require people to abandon religious conviction to participate fully in American life. Freedom of religion includes freedom of conscience. Americans of every faith, and Americans with no religious faith, possess the same civil liberty.
Our Christian tradition offers powerful reasons to reject racism, hatred, cruelty, and dehumanization, but those conclusions are not exclusive to Christians. MPA welcomes Americans from every race, background, faith, and walk of life who share these basic principles and Western values and are willing to extend to others the same liberty and dignity they expect for themselves. We likewise welcome those who come to this country legally, embrace America's constitutional principles, contribute to their communities, and sincerely wish to become Americans and help build a stronger America.
By Western values, we mean a Republic, individual liberty, equal justice under law, freedom of speech and conscience, religious pluralism, personal responsibility, and the inherent dignity and equal rights of every person. These principles transcend race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, and national origin.
There is room for different faiths, different lives, and strong disagreement. There is no room in MPA for racism, sexism, prejudice, dehumanization, or political extremism. We do not need to believe the same things, worship the same way, live the same way, or agree on every issue to stand together as Americans.
That is moderation: holding firmly to our convictions while respecting the freedom of others to hold theirs.
Equal Citizenship, Belonging, and Mutual Respect
LGBTQ+ Americans are Americans. They are our family members, friends, neighbors, coworkers, veterans, first responders, business owners, public servants, and fellow citizens. They should be able to participate fully in American life and in the Moderate Party of America without being treated as outsiders, political tools, or problems to be managed.
MPA welcomes LGBTQ+ members, voters, candidates, volunteers, and leaders who support the Constitution and the principles of the party. A person’s sexual orientation or gender identity does not determine their patriotism, character, competence, morality, or worth.
LGBTQ+ Americans are entitled to equal protection, due process, personal safety, and fair treatment in employment, housing, education, healthcare, licensing, government services, and public life. Violence, threats, targeted harassment, humiliation, and unlawful discrimination are unacceptable.
No child should be bullied, threatened, abused, denied an education, or abandoned because they are, or are perceived to be, LGBTQ+. Protecting children from mistreatment does not require abandoning parental rights, age appropriate standards, medical safeguards, privacy protections, or fair athletic rules.
Adults should remain free to make lawful decisions concerning their relationships, appearance, identity, and medical care. Those decisions should be private, voluntary, based on informed consent, and free from government coercion or political interference.
Using a person’s requested name or form of address should be encouraged as an act of ordinary courtesy. Honest mistakes, respectful disagreement, religious conviction, or refusal to affirm a particular belief should not automatically be treated as harassment. Deliberate and repeated personal harassment is different from disagreement or an accidental use of language.
Freedom of conscience must apply in both directions. LGBTQ+ Americans should not be forced to adopt another person’s religious beliefs, and religious Americans should not be forced to abandon their convictions. Neither side should use government power to deprive the other of equal citizenship, constitutional rights, personal safety, or the ability to participate in society.
Disagreement does not justify hatred. Inclusion does not require forced agreement. We can protect dignity, liberty, safety, conscience, privacy, and equal rights at the same time.
How We Treat One Another
America is strongest when people care for one another again. We should know our neighbors, help people in need, strengthen families and communities, and remember that citizenship includes responsibilities to one another, not only demands placed on government.
Respectful disagreement is essential to a free society. We should challenge ideas, evidence, conduct, and consequences without attacking the dignity or character of those with whom we disagree. Ad hominem attacks, dehumanizing language, threats, hateful rhetoric, and false or malicious accusations intended to discredit or damage another person have no place in productive political discourse.
Accusations of racism, discrimination, or other misconduct should not be used casually to silence ordinary disagreement. Serious accusations should be made responsibly, supported by words, conduct, or evidence, and evaluated fairly. Disagreement alone is not proof of hatred.
Fair treatment does not require accepting customs or conduct that violate another person's rights, safety, or freedom. Child marriage, forced marriage, abuse, sexual exploitation, coercion, violence, or denial of equal rights cannot be excused by tradition, ideology, culture, or religion. Working together in the Moderate Party of America requires respect for the Constitution, the rule of law, equal protection, individual liberty, and a peaceful republican government.
We can oppose an idea without hating the person who holds it. We can speak honestly without speaking cruelly. We can defend our convictions while listening in good faith, correcting our own mistakes, helping one another, and working toward solutions.
Care for one another. Help where you can. Debate the issue. Respect the person. Treat people fairly. Defend individual rights. Earn trust through service. Protect childhood. Choose truth over outrage and community over contempt.
Let Kids Be Kids Again
Children need a family and family structure. Children need a real childhood: outdoor play, imagination, friendship, exercise, exploration, sports, arts, hobbies, family time, community involvement, and face-to-face interaction.
Technology should serve childhood, not replace it. Families, schools, neighborhoods, parks, libraries, and community organizations should create safe and appealing opportunities for young people to spend more time learning, building, playing, and helping others away from screens. As a family and civic standard rather than a government surveillance program, children age 18 and younger should not use social media. Young adults ages 19 through 24 should be encouraged to use substantially less of it, with strong attention to sleep, mental health, privacy, manipulation, addictive design, reputation, and real-world relationships. Parents and guardians should be given practical tools, education, and support to establish healthy technology boundaries.
Philosophy
The Moderate Party of America is founded on social classical liberalism, economic conservatism, constitutional republicanism, natural rights, civic responsibility, and virtue ethics.
We believe every person possesses inherent rights that do not originate with government. Government exists to protect those rights, not to grant them, control them, or take them away without constitutional due process.
We believe in individual liberty, personal ownership, personal responsibility, equal justice, limited constitutional government, competitive capitalism with fair rules and real accountability, fiscal responsibility, scientific and evidence-based policy, government transparency, and service to others.
Liberty must come with responsibility.
Capitalism must come with accountability.
Government authority must come with transparency.
Justice must be applied equally.
Power must come with greater responsibility—not greater privilege.
Our ethical foundation is rooted in truth, justice, integrity, courage, compassion, service, personal responsibility, and the inherent dignity of every human being. It is informed by natural law, the principles of the American founding, and the Judeo-Christian moral tradition while respecting the freedom of conscience and equal rights of every American, regardless of faith or belief.
We believe government should be guided by facts and science rather than ideology or feelings, while remembering that evidence without humanity can produce cold government and compassion without reason can produce bad policy.
We believe in treating others with kindness and fairness even when we profoundly disagree.
We believe in doing what is Right, only because it is the Right thing to do.
